Abstract:
The alkali earth chlorosilicate of Sr
8Si
4O
12Cl
8:Eu
3+,M
3+(M
3+=Sm
3+,Al
3+) was synthesized by the high temperature solid state method. The excitation and emission spectra were measured and the luminescent properties of red-photoluminescence were investigated. The effects of Sm
3+ and Al
3+ ions on the luminescence of Eu
3+ ions and the relation of relative luminescence intensity to its composition were analyzed. The results show that M
3+ (M=Sm
3+, Al
3+) ions can sensitize Eu
3+ ions in Sr
8Si
4O
12Cl
8, with the relative luminescence intensity increasing 7.3% and 40.5%, respectively. The luminescence intensity reaches to the maximum when the molar fractions of Eu
3+ and Sm
3+ (Al
3+) are 8% and 5% (18%), respectively.
