Abstract:
Molten 430 stainless steel deoxidized by complex deoxidizers was studied in a MoSi
2 furnace and an MgO crucible. The SiCaBa, SiAlBaCa, SiCaBaAl, SiCaBaMg and SiCaBaAlSr alloys were used as the deoxidizers, and Al and FeSi were used as the deoxidizers for contrasting. The total oxygen content in steel, the distribution, size and morphology of deoxidation products were studied. The results show that when deoxidized by SiCaBa alloy, a lower total oxygen content of 430 stainless steel can be obtained, the deoxidation products can easily float out from the steel and the size of inclusions in the steel can be significantly decreased, the morphology of which is changed to spheric shape.
