Relationship between Energy Consumption and Particle Size in Comminution

  • Based on the theory of elastic mechanics and fracture mechanics, the mechanism of comminution was studied deeply. It is considered that comminution was resulted from the unstable development of primary crack in particle, and the energy consumption was inversely proportional to the length of primary crack, and the length of primary crack decreased with decreasing the particle size. Finally, the relationship between energy consumption and particle size was deduced, which was suitable for whole comminution processing.
